Summary
Admiralty and maritime law is a comprehensive guide on the special procedures, rules, jurisdictional questions and remedies for American and international admiralty and maritime law. The current edition of this book updates the law by focusing on the new decisions and developments that move the law forward. This new edition seeks to retain the focus on maritime law as a distinct field covering not only shipping law but also all other rules of national and international law concerning mankind's use of the world's oceans and their natural resources. For this reason, this book integrates admiralty law with the international law of the sea. Particular emphasis is placed upon not only the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, but also the many international conventions concerning ships and shipping, which are of increasing relevance to admiralty practitioners even though the United States may not be a party to such international agreements.
