Summary
February 19, 1754 Proclamation issued by Governor Robert Dinwiddie to encourage Virginians to enlist into military service. As a reward for so defending the colony against the French and hostile Indians and for good behavior and proper service, the governor promised two thousand acres of land on the Ohio River and no payment of quit-rents for the first fifteen years.
