Summary
1590 Pamphlet written by Thomas Hariot (servant to Sir Walter Raleigh) entitled "A briefe and true report of the new found land of Virginia." Included was information regarding the commodities, and the nature and manners of the "natural inhabitants." There are numerous illustrations, with a separate table of contents, as well as another table of contents regarding the various topics and subjects in the pamphlet. Printed at Franckfort in 1590.

Plates 1-23 have title: The trve pictvres and fashions of the people in that parte of America novv called Virginia, discowred by Englismen sent thither in the years of our Lorde 1585 ... Translated out of Latin into English by Richard Hacklvit. Diligentlye collected and draowne by Ihon White ... now cutt in copper and originally published by Theodore de Bry att his wone chardges.
The last 5 plates have title: Som pictvre, of the Pictes which in the olde tyme dyd habite one part of the great Bretainne.
Colophon on final page: At Franckfort, inprinted by Iohn Wechel, at Theodore de Bry, owne coast and chardges. M D XC.
De Bry, a skillful engraver, in 1587 traveled to England, where he met Richard Hakluyt. Hakluyt gave him a copy of Hariot's Virginia, and in 1590 De Bry published the Hariot work in Latin, German, French, and English as part I of the Great Voyages. ... the succeeding parts were published only in Latin and German.
