Summary
1655 Abstract of Laws and Government collected by John Cotton from Scriptures and presented to the General Court of Massachusetts; published posthumously by William Aspinwall. Of note, Aspinwall included in his preface the three points which were the underpinnings of these "righteous" laws: that the laws are invariable and bind all; indispensable by any created powers; and that they bind both outward actions and spirit and conscience. Margin notes of the sources were also included in this abstract.
